  20.       I use both a Diamond Stealth 64 (PCI) and an ATI Mach 64 (PCI).. Both 
  21.      are very good cards.. 4 MB of ram for the card is good if you want to 
  22.      use 16.8 million colors in higher resolutions.. I just have the 2 MB 
  23.      versions and they work great for me (800x600 16.8).. I am using the 
  24.      Diamond on a Intel Pentium 100 under WIN95.. The ATI is running on an 
  25.      Intel Pentium 90 under NT 3.51..
  26.       As far as NT and WIN95 go, you are going to get faster refresh rates 
  27.      from WIN95 than NT.. The SDK drivers for the video cards work through 
  28.      a great API.. I can play a 640x480 16-bit FLC at 30 fps under WIN95.. 
  29.      I probably get about 4 to 5 fps on NT with the same FLC.. The ATI card 
  30.      is fast enough for 30 fps but the graphics library in NT is much 
  31.      slower.. 
  32.       If you are looking to run Lightwave on a PC and you are use to using 
  33.      an Amiga, take a look at WIN95.. It really works well in the 
  34.      multitasking department and you can still run Dpaint in a dos box in 
  35.      High-res.. NT will not let you have the Super-VGA modes of the 
  36.      graphics cards for a dos application (Not until January when the NT 
  37.      SDK is suppost to come out).. I used NT for 6 months before getting 
  38.      WIN95, NT is great (Hate Windows 3.1) but WIN95 is looking better all 
  39.      the time.. Plus as a bonus is games like DESCENT work great under 95 
  40.      :).. Games hate NT..
  41.       I really don't like PC's that much after having a real multitasking 
  42.      computer, but WIN95 is making the PC life a little easier (Plug in and 
  43.      still a little Play)..

  62.      As with many other people I'm looking to add an Intel based Windows NT 
  63.      system to my 2 VideoToasters.  I've been researching for about a month 
  64.      now (with the Lightwave upgrade deadline nearing) and the only thing 
  65.      I'm left with selecting is a graphics card.
  66.      
  67.      Can anyone who has been using a PC with Lightwave please give me some 
  68.      suggestions as to graphics/video cards?  I'm leaning toward the 
  69.      Diamond Stealth 64 Video VRAM (4meg) card because it comes bundled 
  70.      with NT drivers and seems to have a good refresh rate and bit-depth / 
  71.      resolution (I've been reading about PC graphics, can you tell? :-)
  72.      
  73.      At any rate, I suppose I should direct this question to more of a 
  74.      Windows or PC group, but I'm very interested in the Lightwave aspect 
  75.      of it since I will be spending a big chunk of my life in front of it 
  76.      (like any good lightwaver should) as well as a good game of "Dark 
  77.      Forces" or "Flight Simulator".
